After two stormy meetings, Venezuela accepts all conditions set by the powers to settle the dispute with arbitration. The government says it finds the terms unjust but yields to force. The note was delivered at the U S Legation in Caracas at noon. Details indicate cash payments to allies and guarantees for the balance of claims, with no discussion of raising the blockade.
Caracas January 8 United States Minister Bowen has orders to depart Venezuela next Saturday for Washington to present the Venezuelan case to the British German Commission. An American warship will pick him up at La Guayra. Bowen rejects compensation and is praised for his disinterested service. He will be accompanied by his wife. San Juan Puerto Rico January £ The Dolphin is ordered to wait for Washington instructions and may be sent on a special mission to Venezuela.
Washington reports President Castro agrees to submit the Venezuelan dispute to arbitration. Bowen expects a settlement without The Hague machinery, with commissioners to draft terms if needed. Britain Germany and Italy have reportedly dropped barriers, and Bowen may arrive on a warship to represent Venezuela in Washington.
The German steamship Pisa will depart Newport News for New York tomorrow to load a large cargo of government supplies for German warships in Venezuelan waters. The Pisa will then transport the supplies to Venezuela.

After the inquest into art dealer Leonard Roos’s death, warrants were issued for Michael Timpano Ellen Long and Louis Somerville. In Ada Ohio a collision on the Pennsylvania system killed eight and injured fourteen as the Cannon Ball Express rear-ended a local train on a crowded main street. The accident occurred despite a signal cue from a flagman due to a late arrival and heavy snow.
