Spreckels Plans Probe Into American Sugar Refining
Claus Spreckels, president of Federal Sugar Refining, told reporters he will seek detailed disclosure at the American Sugar Refining annual meeting in Jersey City to reveal what backs its stock value and where the company’s property ends and Havemeyer estate assets begin. He declined to specifics but aimed to learn the real value of shareholders’ investments. Washington B. Thomas and C R Heike of American Sugar Refining disputed the charges, with Heike calling them untrue.
