Meteor Christened by Miss Roosevelt at Shooters Island
At Shooters Island the Meteor was launched in a gala ceremony attended by President Roosevelt Prince Henry of Prussia and 5000 spectators. Miss Alice Roosevelt christened the yacht with the German Emperor’s blessing amid salutes and cheers. the vessel slid into Kill Van Kull waters as bands played both nations’ anthems.
