Live Wire Plays Havoc At Wedding Ride

Sixteen year old Eleanor Hartshorne daughter of James Mott Hartshorne of 40 East 65th street was knocked from a horse in Central Park, suffering a broken nose contusions and a blackened eye. Patrolman John F. McKenna pursuing a runaway saddle horse collided with her mount. he and his horse were briefly injured. Hartshorne was taken by car to Presbyterian Hospital then regained consciousness. McKenna was treated at Roosevelt Hospital and sent home. The owner of the runaway horse E J Reynolds of 345 West 45th street was also thrown but not injured as the horse was captured further up the road.

Two runaway horses attached to a Hil debrand Baking Company wagon bolted after being frightened by a passing auto. Patrolman Charles Goss of the Tenderloin station clung on for two blocks and stopped the team at 28th Street by throwing the off horse. He was bruised but resumed duty after private treatment. The wagon pole and harness broke and one hind leg of the off horse was sprained. Driver Alfred Hauser left the scene with the team idle at Sixth Avenue and First Street.
