Poor & Co. Failure Triggers Exchange Inquiry Probe
Reports say the governing committee may open an inquiry into the collapse of H. W. Poor & Co. after its Saturday failure. The firm faced withdrawals, a Boston branch dispute, and large losses tied to railroad bonds and the Colonial Sugar Company. A creditors meeting is planned, with assignee James F. Jackson preparing a financial statement and a plan to maximize collateral value.
