Missouri Supreme Court ousts three oil firms for monopoly
Missouri's highest court ruled Standard Oil of Indiana Republic Oil Company and Waters-Pierce Oil Company violated state antitrust laws. It ordered Waters-Pierce to continue only if it proves independent operation by January 15, 1908, while the others must wind up in Missouri by March 1, 1908. The decision, unanimous by seven judges, marks a sweeping end to major combinations in the state and aligns with the U S Tobacco Trust ruling.
