Goletheist Doctor Arrested After Theft Trap at Goelet Home

Dr. Robert E. Moore an osteopath with Fifth Avenue patrons was arrested on a barge for stealing ninety dollars from Robert W. Goelet at 591 Fifth Avenue. Detectives traced a decoy package of bills and Moore allegedly confessed to taking several thousand dollars from the Goelet home.

Lions in Peril as Fire Rips Central Park Menagerie

Thirty lions and two hippos including the famed Caliph IT barely escaped death last night when flames broke out in the Central Park lion house. Night watchman Louis Siebold spotted the blaze as lions roared, firemen arrived and fought the wooden enclosure blaze, believed started by a worker’s lit pipe.

Auto Kills Woman Then Flees In New York Street

A speeding automobile killed Mrs Eliza Campbell Foote at 59th street and Seventh Avenue last night. Witness A B Carles pursued the fleeing car after alerting patrolman Downey. the driver was cleared. The victim, 55, owned a large dove shop in Lakewood New Jersey and was a guest at the Hotel Martha Washington. In Ellenburg, Arthur M Pettit and Edgar Byer were killed when a touring car veered off and threw Pettit from the running board. Mrs Helen Munder of Gloster wrecked in Viola near Suffern, suffering injuries. A Woodmere man and Annie Blum of Brooklyn were nearly crushed when Isaacs car crashed into a tree en route to Woodmere, trapping them for an hour before rescue.

Film Man's Wife Shot at Riverside Drive Mystery Unfolds

Agnes Raver wife of motion picture booster Harry Raver was shot in her Riverside Drive apartment. She was moved to Washington Heights Hospital with a chest wound and held as a prisoner on an attempted suicide claim. The Japanese butler alerted Dr. Wallace Lee who summoned police. Julia the seven year old adopted daughter was present at the table when the shot rang out and jewels were later removed from Mrs. Raver. Authorities say the affair involves the Promoter couple and the Riverside Drive residence.

German Seaman Eludes British To Reach Hamburg

A German merchant steamship believed to be from Hamburg American Line nears Hamburg after evading British warships.
