The Pleasants Life
The poem portrays a speaker returning to nature from city life and choosing to place trust in nature until the Earth returns to dust. It contrasts golden summer fields, cattle, and changing skies with brook and bird music and the skylark. The speaker vows to abandon urban trust for nature’s restorative power.
