Liberty Street Terminal Seen As World’s Handsomest
Joseph Osgood chief engineer of the Central Railroad of New Jersey says the Liberty Street terminal in this city will be among the handsomest in the world and finished around January. The design follows the home type with a copper front and fireproof construction. Waiting rooms use plaster and Istrian marble wainscoting, and a bridge across West Street connects the upper floor with Liberty Street exits. Work began with demolishing Pier I in 1904 and building a new 300 foot pier, all while maintaining traffic flows.
