Bankers Approve Controller of the Currency Supervision Plan

The December circular from National City Bank outlines the Controllers aim to gain stricter oversight of national bank directors and more thorough examinations. It notes bankers and editors largely support the approach, though some misinterpret the methods. The goal is to learn how well directors recognize and perform their duties, with examiners asking targeted questions to guide future action. Question 10 on certifying signatures reveals the impossibility of examiners confirming genuineness of paper beyond local cases. This reflects a move toward safer banking and requires careful consideration by all parties.
