Oxygen Aids Sprinters In Long Island Water Carnival
Tests at Huntington Bay show pure oxygen boosts short distance swim speed. Swimmers from Bath Beach club perform faster 100 yard times with oxygen, notably Ray Mulvey and J Ferber, as Dr. E E Smith and Dr. Leonard My comment on heightened exertion. Results suggest oxygen increases work capacity for brief efforts and may lower records in short races, with implications for future performances.
