Mrs Wilcox Refuses Bail in $5,000 Defraud Charge
Mrs Charity C Mould of Mattituck has caused the arrest in Brooklyn on a charge that wealthy widow Mrs Helen A Wilcox defrauded a friend of five thousand dollars. Wilcox, wearing ostrich feather trims and diamonds, spent the night in Raymond Street jail and will not seek bail while aiming to file a habeas corpus writ. The case concerns a loan Wilcox allegedly made and a house at 71 Bainbridge Street tied to sold properties to settle debts. Bail remains unlikely as the Supreme Court calendar is heavy.
