A mob of about five hundred, including several fathers and mothers, battered and stripped the Russian bookbinder George Kestner after he was accused of trying to seize eight year old Sedie Hamberger at 102 East 1st Street. Police rescued Kestner as the crowd, shouting lynch him, set upon him, while bystanders and neighbors rallied and clashes with officers ensued.

Drowns After Steamer Stirred Waves on Fast River
Joseph Elliott a 37 year old resident of 677 Fast M4th Street was pitched from a 40 foot launch into the Fast River off 28th Street by waves from a passing excursion boat and drowned.
