Washington April 20 President Taft indicated that the Senate substitute for the Payne tariff bill met his approval He opposed a general push for a new form of taxation preferring to test Aldrich revenue projections for six months He favored inheritance tax as primary and a tax on corporate dividends as second choice and would keep special taxation as a last resort He believed the Aldrich plan could yield economies but not as much as claimed and expected to study all forms of corporate taxation next winter He warned against an income tax as likely to burden the middle class and said he would support the Senate measure for now if adopted in its present form

Burglars Tunnel Under Four Buildings to Bank Vault
