London dispatch reports the Boer siege around Wepener continues amid heavy rain and unclear plans. Captain Little, Lieutenant Holbeck, and Reuter correspondent Milne were captured near Wepener after four gunned Boer losses and a late April assault. Native witnesses say Boers suffered heavy casualties, with British forces countering with Maxims and bayonets as operations stall.
London April 21 Walter Hume Long president of the Board of Agriculture defended publishing Lord Roberts dispatches stating the government must provide full information to the public. He cautioned against dismissing generals at every error, noting past deeds would be halted if such a policy had been followed. The dispatch notes this ends rumors of any indictment against Taylor Henry Youtsey one of the principals in the Goebel assassination appeared in court pled not guilty bail motion filed and set for Monday April 20
