Charles Frederick Spang, 29, claiming Pittsburg business links, fired a shot near the Herald Building after an altercation. Harry Payne Whitney, 30, eldest son of William Whitney, was arrested after speeding a car owned by an electrical equipment company. Patrolman Kerrigan chased him down Seventy second to Seventy fifth streets where Whitney surrendered at the West Sixty-eighth Street station. He pleaded guilty at West Side Court and was held on $300 bail for trial. He said he was en route to visit his father at Sheepshead Bay.
