Friedmann Bundled Out After Hotel Ban on Tuberculin Work

Dr Friedrich Friedmann was barred from using his hotel suite for professional work as six patients awaiting tuberculin treatment were asked to vacate rooms. Private detectives were posted at doors to keep patients out while Friedmann treated fifteen tuberculosis cases at St Joseph's Hospital. He planned to travel to Washington to address the Washington Academy of Science and attend the Gridiron Club dinner. City officials will invite him to demonstrate the tuberculin method in Rooston until a favorable health authority report is received.

Baby Free Father From Bandit Hold Up

A baby’s cry helped wake a captive father during a hold up at a wine shop on East 1st Street. Three men in yellow raincoats looted the store of cash and a bottle. The child’s wail alerted Mrs. Walter and Mrs. Stephens, who helped free Fred Walter after the bandits fled with a small haul.

Studio Duel Ends in Slayings at Hoboken Photo Shop

Wilds Tinto age eighteen son of Joseph Dato proprietor of a Hoboken photography studio was shot and killed by Samuel Lonzetto eighteen of Monroe street. The two lads reportedly engaged in a toy duel with a sword and a revolver. Lonzetto fired the pistol by mistake or under uncertain circumstances, a shot killing Dato in the reception room. Three witnesses in the studio observed the incident and Lonzetto fled but likely will surrender after his fright subsides. Dato died an hour after admission to St Mary’s Hospital. Police issued a general alarm for Lonzetto.

Fire on Alba Steamship En Route to Galveston

The Morgan Line ship Alba bound from New York to Galveston arrived in port this afternoon after a fire was found in the main forward hold about a hundred miles out. Tugs aided in extinguishing the blaze as the ship anchored off the piers. Much of the cargo of general merchandise was damaged.

Jewelry sale to satisfy judgment in county court auction

Henry Tirady, auctioneer, will sell to-day in the county court rotunda a pair of jet earrings, a gold ring, and a setting with two gems to satisfy a judgment against Mrs. Carita E. Johar. The lot may fetch under six dollars, but costs include advertising three dollars, posting notices two dollars fifty, execution and sheriff and auctioneer fees each one percent of the sale proceeds.
