Plainfield Conneticut April 10 William H Johnson of Lisbon dies at an advanced age. One of the last American whalers who sailed toward the North Pole in 1847. He ran away to join the cruise and sailed Cape Horn three times. He crossed to Honolulu in the 1849 gold rush. He joined a crew bound for the Golden Gate after leaping from a pier. He later served in Company A 18th Connecticut and spent a year in Andersonville Prison.
