President Wilson's train passes through the Sierra Nevada on a eastward trek amid cheering crowds. In Sacramento, locals greet him warmly, then at the evening stop in Reno he speaks on the League of Nations, urging support and warning against withdrawal.

On board President Wilsons special train in Stockton California officials declined to discuss reports of a new Fiume agreement but indicated the President's position remained the same. He has argued Italy's claim is strategic not national in basis and that the League of Nations priorities override strategic gains.
American marines have been landed at Buccari on the Gulf of Quarnero about ten miles southeast of Fiume. One American ship lies in Fiume harbor, anchorage distant from the city. General Robilini is replaced by General Badoglio as head of the Italian forces along the armistice line.
Chicago observer John J. Fitzpatrick said the steel industry would experience a complete paralysis, noting the situation improves yet will take days to move. Carnegie Steel in Pittsburgh reported better conditions tonight, with blast furnaces affected by labor shortages and skilled workers largely remaining on the job.
