Wright makes propeller change as wind blocks flight at Fort Myer
Orville Wright observed a twelve mile per hour head wind at the Fort Myer parade ground and altered his plane by swapping to 9 foot blades with a slacker angle to boost thrust while reducing fuel use. He hopes to determine if lost power came from the engine or old blades as he awaits word on his brother’s Le Mans record attempt.
