Herbert Levi Osgood professor of history at Columbia University and veteran political science faculty member died at Brentwood New York Wednesday night. He was born April 9 1855 in Canton Missouri and educated at Amherst Yale the University of Berlin and Columbia earning a PhD in 1888. He taught at Brooklyn High School 1883 1888 and joined Columbia where he taught until his death. He authored works on American history and the colonies in the seventeenth century.
