An imperial ordinance will soon abolish retaliatory duties on machinery from America. The change was effected by Mr. Meyer the American Ambassador. M Witte has been instructed to announce the decision to President Roosevelt.
President Roosevelt hosted Russian envoy M. Witte and Baron Rosen and Japanese envoys Baron Komura and Minister Takahira at Sagamore Hill for a midday luncheon and an evening dinner. The peace mission leaders expressed gratitude for Roosevelt’s efforts, with light formalities and no security disturbances.

George Hamilton an aeronaut battled to save his life during a 1000 foot ascent from Fairyland Amusement Park. With no wind the cigar shaped airship drifted and tangled in the rigging as Hamilton punctured a gas bag tear to vent gas and cling to the craft until it crashed near Buckley Hotel. He fell from the car and was taken to his hotel after the wreck.
John August a 25 year old aeronaut and Shenandoah Penn native was killed when he fell from a balloon and trapeze during an industrial exposition in Baltimore. He had performed balloon exhibitions for five years and was unmarried.

A fire started in the Niagara Falls Hydraulic Power Company wire tower tonight, cutting power to half the city. The Pittsburg Reduction Company aluminum plant suffered about 10000 dollars in damage, and officials say the power company's plant also faces heavy losses. Firemen struggled to contain the blaze due to building positions on the riverfront and a short circuit caused the fire.
Bicycle Policeman J W Frazier of Morrisania Station clung to a galloping horse from McKinley Square to 160th Street before the wagon wheel crushed his bicycle and threw him.
