Doctor Lyne said recovery remained possible but two days would reveal the seriousness. Thomas, from Paris Kentucky, employed Schilling in his stable.
Twelve foreigners were killed in a dynamite explosion at Cambria Steel Company's coal mine two miles from Johnstown Pennsylvania. Three men escaped by climbing life ladders through gas and falling slate as others worked to clear debris after the blast.
Cadet Eugene A. Byrne of Buffalo N Y first classman and left tackle on the United States Military Academy football team died at 6am from injuries suffered in yesterdays game with Harvard. The academy suspended further games this year and will consider the football program after a council meeting. Byrne had been conscious most of the night aiding surgeons and died of a cervical spinal dislocation likely affecting the medulla oblongata. He was attended by his father Col John Byrne and others and the funeral will be at West Point with full honors.
The Pope sent a telegram to the General of the Pauline Fathers offering a new diamond crown to replace the stolen crown from a chapel in Czestochowa Russian Poland. The vandalized image relic suffered the theft a few nights earlier at the chapel rear.
