May Day dispossess warrants dwindle in east side courts
Yesterday marked the calmest May 1 in years as landlords issued far fewer warrants. In the Second District at 264 Madison Street about 450 warrants were filed and most cases were quickly disposed of, with only six set for trial. Judge George F. Roesch cited migration to Brooklyn and the Bronx as a likely cause, noting better housing and transportation lure residents outward.
