Baroness in Circus Fraud Case Arrested at Hotel St Denis
A woman claiming to be Baroness de Vorte Salmo was arrested for grand larceny after allegedly stealing jewelry and clothes from Mrs. Slater. She lived with her husband, Baron Otto von George Salmo, at 206 West Ninety sixth Street and had been employed by Barnum & Bailey in Brooklyn as an equestrienne. Police say the two jeweled fans and other items valued at 800 dollars were taken around the time of her departure. Injured Cyclist Hurt In Springfield Long Island Crossing Crash
Maxmillian Goethius, a carpenter of Amsterdam Avenue Manhattan, was badly injured when his motorcycle struck a train near the Merrick Road crossing in Springfield Queens after trailing a large touring car. He may die from serious hip and thigh injuries. Bonesteil and Denby, fellow riders, and the automobile occupants fled the scene. The train was stopped and Goethius was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital in Jamaica.

Touring car struck by Broadway streetcar on Twenty sixth Street

Samuel Wolf a 27 year old prisoner from Hart's Island escaped Saturday by swimming three miles to City Island. Bicycle Policeman John Dillon captured him on Eastern Boulevard after a clash when Wolf fled a hotel scene and swapped his convict uniform for street wear. He claimed the escape was to attend a Harlem reception. Wolf was recommitted to Hart's Island and associate Robert Spittel was arrested over clothing.
