Society Editor Lawrence Held on Advertising Fraud Charge

Lawrence editor of the Society weekly journal was jailed on $1,590 bail after a complaint by Henry B. Harris alleging ad fraud. Harris claims the paper’s finances relied on stock sales and in exchange for ads, tradesmen furnished gowns, jewelry, and other goods for Mrs. Louisa Cobb the so called society editor. Lawyer Flynn called the charge baseless and said bonds would be arranged. Harris urged the case as spiteful rest after a six week office stay prior to stock purchase.
