Arctic explorer Harry V. Radford, a fellow of the American Geographical Society, is believed abandoned by his guides in the Barren Lands between Chesterfield Inlet and Great Bear Lake. Radford, who left New York Feb 12 1909, had planned a four year trek to study wood bison and map northerly Canada. He had reported shortages and hoped a supply ship would reach Chesterfield Inlet or Fort Churchill, but no news has arrived. His party carried extensive zoological and ethnological collections and maps.
