Firemen Pollock and Boylan saved three women from a West Sixteenth Street boarding house fire using a ladder and life nets. A fourth woman escaped through smoke filled halls as tenants evacuated. The blaze started by a candle in Mrs Mary Hayes room on the third floor, causing $10 000 damage and forcing others to leap to safety.
A fire discovered near a dumb waiter shaft in the Blackburn apartment house at 100 West 61st Street spread to the roof and upper floors. Harris Franklin warned tenants, Policeman Sullivan notified fire services, and all twelve families evacuated safely. The blaze under control in about an hour with $10,000 damage confined to the top three floors.

An appraisal filed in the Surrogates Court shows 10 shares City Theatres Co worth 10 000, 15 shares NY City District Water Supply Co with no value, 58 Dreamland mortgage notes valued at 17 400, and 63 Dreamland debenture bonds with no value. Deductions for funeral expenses and debts reduced the total. the estate is split between his wife and his son.
