Prince Henry of Prussia toured Lookout Mountain and battlefield ground near Chattanooga and Nashville during a southern visit. He received enthusiastic welcomes in Chattanooga Nashville Louisville Bowling Green and Indianapolis and toured with Gen Boynton and Admiral Evans. He viewed Chickamauga and Missionary Ridge, studied campaign maps, and thanked American hosts, leaving for St Louis after a brief Louisville reception.
Prince Henry arrived in Louisville at 7:45 PM and received a welcome address, an album, and a formal address amid cheers from several thousand people. He acknowledged the ovation with salutes, then departed for Indianapolis at 8:00 PM, with his stay shortened by about a third.
