Woman on murder charge commits suicide in jail

Mrs. Vina Hayes, 55, accused of killing her husband Sam Hayes on April 7, shot herself in a County Jail cell in Clinton Missouri while a 40 person jury panel awaited selection. She left a note protesting innocence and had reportedly gained access to a revolver within the jail.

Man Spends 725 on Beer in 227 Days in Boonton Suit

Adolphus G. Hagan of Boonton testified in Morristown that he spent 725 dollars on beer over 227 days and gave his wife nothing. At five cents a glass this sums to about 14 500 glasses, 63 8 10 per day, equating to 189 cubic feet of beer and a pool sized volume to illustrate the quantity.

Waiters Strike Called Off After Near-Uniform Vote

Striker Killed as Riot Flare in New Jersey Plant

Rioting broke out at Williams & Clark plant in Roosevelt as guards fired over the crowd after repeated rush attempts. One striker John Urban was killed and two others shot in the legs.
