Police Injunction Shifts Race Track Betting War

Supreme Court Justice Bischoff issued a temporary injunction restraining Police Commissioner Bingham and his officers from interfering with the Coney Island Jockey Club’s use of its premises at Sheepshead Bay. The order allows patrons to assemble in groups without arrest for mere gathering, as long as no money is exchanged or wagers recorded. Bookmakers and track officials hailed the move as easing betting activity while officials await further court action.
