Supreme Court Refuses Review on Steel Wool Duty Case

The Supreme Court declined to issue a writ of certiorari in a customs ruling dispute involving steel wool used for polishing. The Federal Circuit decision that steel wool is a manufacture from steel wire under Paragraph 137 of the Dingley law stands, with duty varying by gauge and value, despite government arguments for 45 percent metal schedule duties. The case has lingered since 1902 with Buehne Steel Wool Company initiating litigation.
