Yesterday the first Jitney line operated with twenty cars crowded from morning to night. Passengers traveled across the city for 5 cents and the service drew seven initial cars with many more owners entering the field. Jitneys competed with Staten Island boats and trolley cars, drawing hundreds from Public Service Corp lines. Bayonne Standard Oil workers will ride for 5 cents, ending at Lie works entrance.
A strike vote is under way in Albany Troy and Schenectady after talks between the Amalgamated Association and United Traction failed. Union members seek runs Waterford to Troy on Hudson Valley lines while United Traction opposes a closed shop agreement warning cars would be parked and lines shut down across Albany Schenectady Watervliet Troy Waterford Lansingburg Cohoes Green Island and Rensselaer.
