The R-34 airship races 1 400 miles from Mineola aided by a 40 knot breeze. Reports to the Navy Department show an average speed around 60 miles per hour as the craft progresses in its wireless communications. Weather Bureau aid from Major Scott delivers thanks to Admiral Glennon and forecaster Bowie by radio.
The British airship K-34 was in wireless contact with Clifden at 40 o clock GMT. It reported a position of 43 40 N, 46 W with a speed of 45 knots, about 1,490 miles from England and roughly halfway across the Atlantic.
Aboard the R 34 with a westerly wind near forty miles an hour, the dirigible begins its return to London after eighty six hours in the United States. Navy dispatches place the ship about 750 miles east of Boston and near Mineola as Major Scott reports progress toward Ireland.
