Ottawa January 30 The Taft intervention on the Diamond Match Company patent prompts a Canadian bill to ban white phosphorus matches. Labor Minister Mackenzie King says the Canadian patent still has seven years and aims to pressure the company to renew rights, possibly in the United States. He will travel to New York to urge officials to back action seen by Taft.
London, Jan 30 Herbert Samuel, the Postmaster General, said he would be disappointed if his term ended without a substantial reduction in cable rates.
