Fresh Air School to Open in Providence

A fresh air school will open in Providence tomorrow with open three wall windows and a ventilation system to provide cold, pure air. The Rhode Island League for the Suppression of Tuberculosis recommended the model from Europe, notably Germany, and walls are light green with deodorizaton and sterilization of room items. Warmth is provided by fireplaces and soap stone ovens. students may wear woolen bags and gloves for cold feet, with sunlit desks and portable platforms for sun exposure. The teaching staff is chosen from Providence, guided by experts, and the approach mirrors European practice where fresh air schools are standard parts of the system.
