Traction Expansion in Queens and Belmont Tunnel Plans
Queens anticipates major transit growth next year with traction franchises eyed by firms for service from Manhattan to Queens via the Belmont Tunnel and Queensboro Bridge. The Queensboro Celebration Committee urges city action to acquire the Belmont Tunnel, enabling extension of lines on similar terms, with two last franchises likely delivering a 5-cent fare.
