Public Service Commission Rejects Traction Merger Plan
The Public Service Commission refused to approve an agreement between Receiver Frederick W. Whitridge for the Third Avenue Railroad and the Kingsbridge Road Railway. The deal would have let Third Avenue cars run over three miles the Kingsbridge line is said to control, effectively reviving a paper road and extending a disputed merger. Commissioner Eustis noted the Kingsbridge line existed mainly in franchise and tracks, with little real value beyond that, while recording historic costs and the high implied per mile valuation.
