An elevator in the Temple Bar Building at 44 Court Street Brooklyn plunged about fifty feet yesterday afternoon rebounding eight feet and jamming between the basement and first floor. Five of nine passengers were injured including Assistant District Attorney Peter Smith and Miss Elizabeth Weichurch and Miss Marie Wissenborn of 628 Wythe Street. The car operator Joseph Rodriguez acted as porter, and another operator later ferried the car up to the first floor. Lawyer William Warren sustained contusions and other passengers suffered glass cuts from shattered bulbs. The scene followed the car dropping from the fourth floor and striking the shaft bottom.
