The Minneapolis Civic and Commerce Association sails into New Ulm by M and St. L railroad at 5 20 PM with a band and about 120 people including two diners. Mayor L A Fritsche and Commercial Club President G A Ottomeyer will welcome them at Minnesota Street then New Ulm and New Ulm band will perform at First North Street corner with a concert and a picture show. If weather fails Turner Hall hosts the program. Merchants urged to light store windows for a lively Main Street welcome. They stay overnight and depart early next morning via C N W A R to Lake Crystal.

Vagrants Arrested For Begging and Vagrancy
Mrs Mary Mueller was fined ten dollars and costs after pleading guilty to begging funds to travel to Galveston with her children. Joseph Schroepfer and Martin Schluck faced vagrancy charges, both fined ten dollars and costs. Schluck’s father paid his fine, the other youth served eight days in jail on bread and water. Police reported they lived in a shack on an island, fished for farmers, and urged younger boys to stay away from home prompting arrest.

Late Friday Henry N Samson decided the former Quense building should be torn down and a modern two story business block to replace it. Sunday Train On M. and St. L. Road Delights New Ulm Area
The M. and St. L. line will offer a Sunday service from Minneapolis and St. Paul to New Ulm starting May 30, with schedules under review by the Commercial Club. Track and bridge work at Searles will cost 12,000 dollars to rebuild the Little Cottonwood River bridge, enabling heavier traffic and faster connections through Winthrop and Watertown.

Senior Class Chases Memorial for School Lamps
The Senior Class held a May 11 meeting to fund a memorial with ten large ornamental lamps for the school building. About 100 dollars would be spent, the largest Senior class expenditure of the year. A committee was elected to proceed, consult Mr. Hess, and write to the architects for design opinions. Prints of several lamp designs were ordered and expected shortly.
