Man Killed by Horses at Alvin Resort Barn
A young man, John Goettsche, was killed when two horses trampled him in a barn at Alvin Resort, West Newton. Rescue efforts failed to save him, and he died after suffering extensive injuries. The cause remains unclear though animal excitement possibly linked to earlier carcass disposal. Goettsche, 34, was nephew to Henry Goettsche of Sleepy Eye and had recently moved to New Ulm for work. Interment occurred at Buenger's Undertaking rooms.

Motorcycle Collision On Washington Street Leaves Bikes Crushed
Last Friday near 8 pm Tony Simmet and Frank Zangl collided on Washington Street between 8th and 9th North. Simmet suffered a 2 inch scalp wound and returned to work. Zangl left for home after medical aid. Simmet’s bicycle was ruined and Zangl’s Sears bike was damaged with bent handlebars and a smashed lantern. A West Newton boy lost a finger when a shotgun discharged while carrying it.
