Simon Kills Self in Mapleton Residence
Frank Simon a 65 year old Democratic candidate for Congress from Minnesota's Second District was found dead in his Mapleton home cellar last Monday morning. He hanged himself due to despondency from ill health. A Mapleton resident for over 25 years he belonged to Masonic and Woodmen lodges and twice ran for Congress, first in 1918. He leaves a widow and several sons and daughters.

Farm Home Burns in Bernadotte Township
The farm home of Mr and Mrs Laurence Wiick in Bernadotte township was destroyed by fire about 9 o'clock Monday morning last week. The couple were in the yard and could not save the residence. Jewelry and clothing were lost through a bedroom window. Neighbors helped save the barn. The blaze is thought to have started from a defective heating stove. The home and contents were partially insured. A temporary home is being erected for the Wicks while a new house is prepared. Mrs Witek is a daughter of Mr and Mrs Ole Paterson of Bernadotte.
