Municipal heating plan draws business support in New Ulm

At Turner Hall the Commercial Club discussed a central municipal heating plant for New Ulm. H. C. Kimbrough outlined a district heating scheme along Minnesota Street with mains by alleys, cost up to 30000 dollars per mile, and financing options including city or private investment. The meeting endorsed the committee’s continued work and urged council action.

State Board of Health reports show Stately had no deaths in 1914 and 12 births while Evan had no births. New Ulm led births with 155 and 87 deaths. county totals reach 555 births and 226 deaths. Funds limited copying of reports. clerks and state board hold records.

Road funds apportioned among Minnesota counties

The State Highway Commission allocates the road and bridge fund among Minnesota's eighty six counties. No county receives the maximum three percent this year and thirty counties receive the minimum 14 300 dollars. Ramsey Hennepin and St Louis again are top beneficiaries with 95 000 dollars each, the same as 1914. Pine and Chisago counties gain sizable increases while Brown Nicollet Redwood Sibley Watonwan and Cottonwood also receive specified amounts. Dr C J Seifert ham appointed examining surgeon to the militia by Adjutant General Wood.

The Minne sota Turnbezirk convention in St Paul praised the new building and opposed bible readings in public schools. Governor Hammond spoke on Minnesota history and the new school’s education plans, with a large attendance and an evening open house for hundreds of visitors.

Workman Oscar David Dies After Train Crash Near State Hospital

Laborer Oscar David aged about 35, recently from Mankato, died Friday near the Northwestern road tracks by the state hospital when he threw himself in front of an approaching passenger train. Morgan and Cavanaugh witnessed the act. an inquest was held Saturday at Klein Undertaking Rooms.
