Accidents mar New Uhm area with scaffold collapse and bike crashes
Multiple incidents Saturday left two of five workers injured when scaffold collapsed at the Robert Lieder farm in Courtland. In town, Henry Schiemann suffered a concussion and ruptured eardrum after colliding with a Morgan car on Minnesota Street. A boy on a bicycle bumped into Anthony Schmitz’s car, causing a minor spill but no injuries. The spate of accidents also included a motorist and cyclist mishap near Columbia Clothing Co. and another bicycle collision near the same street site. Injuries ranged from sprains to fractures. all subjects were treated and recovering.

Rev. C F Mayer led a reunion at Friedens Church in New Ulm drawing nearly a hundred young people from New Ulm and nearby towns. After morning services and a picnic in the park, a concert followed with a massed choir and various solos and duets. Wiese Case Ends in Plaintiff Victory for 1800

Voting light at election for bonds in city
Interest in the local special election for a $40,000 four percent bond issue to defray city expenses was high at one o'clock Tuesday. Only about ten percent of eligible voters had cast ballots. By press time no result was available but commentators doubted the bond issue would pass.
Narrow Escape During Gas Pipe Transport
John Bluehm narrowly escaped death when a heavy wagon wheel struck his head after falling between wheels on Franklin Street between 1st and 2nd North last Thursday. Driver Art Heinen stopped the team with quick, calm action. Bluehm suffered a badly cut head requiring stitches, but recovery is expected and he will return to work soon.

Splendid Band Concert by the Second Regiment Band
The Second Regiment Band delivered a delightful program at the Park last Sunday evening. Director Hofmeister led an artistic performance that showcased the band’s skill and statewide appreciation. An estimated two thousand attended, with cars parked for blocks around. No concert will be held next Sunday as the band attends the National Guard Encampment at Lake City.

Thief Captured After Countywide Chase Involving Horses
Clarence Barnhart, nineteen, fled from Belgrade farm after stealing a team and gear. He was tracked through Comfrey and Butterfield before capture near Butterfield and detention in Comfrey lock-up. One horse sold for $90. authorities then took him to St Peter for trial. Barnhart’s background includes run-ins with the law and a history of drifting jobs. He claimed wages were too low and outlined road knowledge to evade pursuers.
