Ditching blamed for floods in Minnesota valley visit
A L Poehler of Henderson and John A Diers of Blakely toured the Minnesota river from Big Stone Lake to Ortonville. As members of the new Minnesota River Improvement association they concluded ditching upstream causes floods and plan to sue ditching firms to test drainage law. They found most county ditches before completion and dismissed dam fears at Big Stone lake outlet as ineffective for the lower river.

Accidental death in Sigel tied to gasoline engine
August Schulz, a 40 year old former New Almite with two artificial feet, died when a box slipped while he backed a gasoline traction engine from a shed on his brother’s Sigel farm. No foul play suspected. coroner not called. He had a troubled private life including divorce and suspected infidelity.
