New Ulm Residents Petition to Restore Old Train Times

Citizens and commercial travelers in New Ulm circulated petitions protesting the Northwestern road time card changes. They seek restoration of the 5:40 am train and the Hughes westbound morning service to Tracy and return to Mankato, arguing the abandoned trains were the most popular and convenient for daily trips to St Paul, Minneapolis, and westward destinations.

Minnesota and Dakota Cattle company sues rail line

The Minnesota and Dakota Cattle company seeks 2000 damages in Brown county district court against the Chicago and Northwestern Railway Company. Plaintiffs claim an agent promised two special trains to move 728 head of cattle from Pierre to Chicago within thirty hours, but delays caused 55140 pounds loss and late arrival. New Postals Allow Front Ads Pictures Under MEYER Edict

Postmaster General Meyer ruled that postal cards may carry advertisements pictures and messages on the front alongside the address reversing the long rigid rule. The change aligns U S practice with foreign card use and resolves previous inconsistencies in postal laws and regulations.
