Heat Fatal for Milford Worker August Brandt On Duty
August Brandt, 41, a member of the Paul Klinkhammer carpenter crew at the Hoffman place in Milford, died after being overcome by heat while working. Born in New Ulm on March 9 1865 he was the son of Ernst Brandt publisher of Fortschrift and had worked at the New Ulm flour mill and later the Fortschritt office as a compositor. He never married. The funeral, held Monday at Turner Hall under New Ulm Fire Department auspices, was attended by an escort of ex-members of Company A.
