Explosion Causes Frightful Burns at New Ulm Farm
Mrs. Robert Hounshell, 31, wife of a Lafayette township farmer, lies dying at Union hospital from severe burns after a defective kerosene heating stove exploded last Friday evening. The blaze started in the children's bedroom, spreading only to that room, with about 75 dollars total damage. Her husband rushed to help, carrying her out in blankets as neighbors alarmed by telephone aided the scene. The accident occurred shortly after 7 pm, and Mrs. Hounshell lit the stove routinely for heat in the cold season.

Blue Earth county Sheriff Osten, likened to Sherlock Holmes, traced two youths who burglarized a Eagle Lake hardware store starting with a coat button found at the scene. After close scrutiny of suspects, the thief lacking the button led officers to a snowbank where the loot was hidden.
