Fatal Auto Crash Near Springfield Claims Fred Thram
A Buick driven by Fred Thram of Lamberton collided with a hayrack loaded with drain tile near the Reussmann farm west of Springfield last Tuesday after 6 pm. Thram died within a half hour. Walter Gould of Springfield suffered a badly mangled limb and a broken wrist. Thram, born June 13, 1896, would have turned 26 next June. He served in World War I, worked at John Roth & Son garage in Lamberton, and is survived by his wife Lena Iverson, their nine month old son Kenneth, his parents, eight sisters, and one brother.

A Monday blaze of unknown origin destroyed the Cambria Creamery and its contents valued at about 3500 dollars. Insurance coverage was 2400 dollars leaving an estimated net loss of 1100 dollars. The community plans to rebuild next spring as conditions permit.

Sheriff Julius annual report shows 28 inmates in the Brown County jail during 1921, with total boarded days 539 at $1 per day. Two were women, and six were discharged on sentence expiration while three paid fines. Two prisoners were sent to the state prison, two to the state hospital, and four transferred from other jurisdictions. Identification records maintained total 3,299 cards.

At Sleepy Eye last week stockholders of Stark Farmers Mutual Insurance Co approved raising insurable grain value to three fourths of actual value. 1921 policies rose to 2,716 in force covering about $9.45 million. Cash on hand year end was $4,758.10 with total receipts $10,439.95 and losses paid $4,188.95.
