Death Claims Colonel Dandy in City Home
Colonel George R. Dandy retired brigadier general of the U S A died tonight at his city home. He is survived by his widow formerly Eliza Slaughter of East Grand Forks Minnesota. Anne Eliza Slaughter is the daughter of Capt Slaughter once in Judson and known to local settlers. Capt Slaughter led Co E Second Minnesota volunteer cavalry at Fort Ridgely and earlier worked in St Paul newspapers.

Funeral held Wednesday afternoon with services at Turner Hall and interment in the city cemetery. Captain Albert Steinhauser officiated. Relatives from Milwaukee Chicago Minneapolis and other cities attended. Honorary pallbearers named and Schell Brewlog Co. employees served as active pallbearers. Local businesses closed from 2 to 2:30 p.m. during the burial.

Brown County Leads State in Weights and Measures Compliance
State treasurer Walter Smith reports Brown County is the only county to comply with a new standard law requiring tested scales and measures. County Treasurer Berg submitted test weights including a die, brass yard measure, dry and liquid measures, and block weights to establish a county standard. The law, effective January 1910, will be enforced across the state to ensure compliance.
